Christmas countdown week 2

Good Evening. I hope you are having a good start to your week.

Just before I update you on how the Christmas organising is going let me tell you about more good news for my daughter. She was told today that she is being moved up to the top set for maths. Yay, she really has had a fantastic start to the school year.

Now back to what we came here for today.

Last weeks cleaning was the hall which should have included the hall cupboard. Oops it didn't but as I cleaned it out during the summer holidays it shouldn't be too bad so we shall just add it to this week with the downstairs toilet.

So the goodies that were baked and put in the freezer last week were a mixture of small cakes. I think this week I will make some sausage rolls.

The meal for the freezer that I made last week was a chicken curry. I think this week I will make a Spaghetti Bolognese. I can pop this into the slow cooker on a day that I don't need to use it and then just put it in the freezer to use on a day when we are really busy.

Last week I bought some items to go into the children's Christmas stockings. I think next week I might get some items for my mum, she showed me a shirt that she had bought herself last week, she wanted to get it in a different colour but they didn't have it in store and she won't shop online. But of course I will so I can order it, it will only be a part of her present because it is quite cheap.

The items I added to my weekly shop last week was some juice. This week I think I will buy some fizzy drinks for the store cupboard for Christmas.

Well that's my Christmas update. If you think there is anything I need to add to my list please let me know.

Take care xx

  1. Congratulations to your daughter! That's great news!

Those cakes look really yummy! You are doing really well with the Christmas cleaning and preparations. I need to update my list of people who I give gifts to and decide what I am giving them this year.

    1. Ah thank you Bless, I am so proud of her.

Ooh that reminds me I normally type up a list of who I buy for and I haven't yet. Do you have many people to buy for Bless?

    2. Around 35 to 40 people. Family, friends, colleagues, etc. It's down from over 50 people in years past.

    3. Wow Bless that's a lot more than me. I have the five kids, Ben, I have ten family members and then I buy items for the kids teachers so normally about ten small presents because the roughly have three teachers each in their classes. Xx

  2. Yes, I have something for your list that you have forgotten:
    50) Fly over to Florida and organize Nathalie's Christmas.

Holy Molly, Tara! Are you for real?! You've already done all that?! The small cakes look so delicious how on earth did you not eat them already? I couldn't live for the next 3 months knowing those are in my freezer.

Congrats to your daughter, well done! She must be so proud!

    1. Ooh yes please Nathalie I would love to.

Ha ha, If they weren't frozen they would be gone buy now but out of sight out of mind and all that.

Thank you , I am proud of her because she finds maths more difficult than other things and really has to try hard.

  3. I know what you could add to your store cupboard, extra sellotape and wrapping paper just in case you run out! Jo x

  4. I am very late responding to your post Tara, but I think about it every single day. The reason for that is the fact that I haven't "done my homework assignment" this week, and I am procrastinating from filing my report. *laugh* For all her protests, Nathalie has been doing far more than me. It seems that every day this week she has mentioned picking up something for someone's stocking, or ordering a gift on-line for someone in her family. And for all of my good intentions, I have not done any special Christmas baking because my freezers are getting full of garden produce. I haven't crafted any homemade gifts yet because of my resolve not to do that until my Craft room is finally organized. I haven't bought or ordered any gifts this week. My on-line "Oganized Christmas" says I should have finished the front porch, the entry and the living room by now, but I have other goals that I want to meet by the end of this month. Oh wait a moment, I did order some small things from Avon this past Friday. I'm good. I did do something after all. Ha. I guess I should make a list to keep track of weekly items.

    1. Oh Susan this comment did make me giggle. It sounded like my normal family days. You could always resolve to just to eat garden produce for Christmas, cheap and healthy, what more could you ask for.

Good old Avon always comes to the rescue. Funnily enough I just had an Avon Catalogue put through my door and I haven't looked in one for years but I thought I might be able to get a few unusual stocking fillers for my daughter so my plan was to sit with a coffee in the morning and choose some bits.

If you don't mind me saying my dear friend you do need to get your craft room sorted it does seem to be holding you back from doing things at the moment.

I hope you have a good weekend. Xxx

  5. You are absolutely right. My procrastinating over the Craft room is indeed holding me back. I need to get on with it. Snap that whip, Tara. *laugh*

I could serve garden produce at Christmas, but since some of my home made gifts include some festive treats, I don't think frozen beans are going to replace the lack of goodies. *sigh*

    1. Bossy Cow aren't I (thats what I get for working in a school) ha ha.

You could always tell your gift receivers that whilst it may not be your usual yummy treats not only are you giving them Christmas beans but you are also giving them the gift of health. Ha ha xxx
